Wow what a list!
We all need this in our medicine
cabinets.Finally
after over 12 years, Plant Cures has secured a source for fresh whole
organically grown African Buchu leaves! This had once been an
important part of our Kidney Klenze formula and finally is
again!
The mostly
useless irradiated dried powder shipped from
The reason we could not
get the fresh leaves, believe it or not, was because of the
horse racing industry! They had somehow put a “ban” on the fresh leaves
entering into this country! (Due to the fact that if a horse was fed the
leaves before a race it could evacuate all it's urine giving the
horse an advantage in a race) How stupid is
that! Why not just feed it to all of the horses for a faster more
exciting race? It's like saying you can't burn preimium fule in your race
car!
But anyway........
The plant's name, Buchu, is derived from the South African
Hottentot word for the plant, bookoo, meaning "dusting
powder," In traditional
African medicine, Buchu was used as a powder to deter insects. The
Hottentots also use the leaves, with their rue-like fragrance, to perfume
their bodies.
One of its commercial uses is to enhance the aroma of
the liqueur, Cassis, and to flavor wines and
brandies.
However, the medicinal uses are
legion.......
Buchu is well known for its beneficial stimulating and soothing
effects on the urinary tract system of both men and women. One of the many active ingredients,
diosphenol (or barosma camphor), is known to be a potent antiseptic and
diuretic. The herb has been especially helpful in the treatment of urinary
tract infections, including prostatitis, urethritis and cystitis. The herb
helps to alleviate catarrhal conditions and inflammation in the kidneys
and bladder.
Buchu is one of the best single herbs for the
prostate gland!
It is now known to reduce swelling of the
prostate, soothe the lining membrane of the urethra and alleviate painful
urination. It has been proven to help control bladder and kidney problems
and the incontinence that is associated with prostate problems. Although
called a "specific" for bladder infections,
Buchu is renowned for lessening the
inflammation of the colon, prostate, sinuses, gums and vagina and is known
to relieve vaginal discharge.
As a diuretic, Buchu
stimulates and cleanses the urinary system and in turn is an excellent
remedy for urine stoppage. The herb also helps to correct fluid retention
and promotes the
elimination of excess water weight.
Warning: As
wonderful as Buchu Leaf is for the urinary system it is contra indicated
if you are pregnant or nursing. Please see Kidney Klenze
XB
Buchu
also increases perspiration, an excellent means of cleansing toxins from
the body through the skin. As it does this it
also leaves a natural deodorant in the perspiration!
Buchu's has the ability to promote
the elimination of mucus and uric acid from the kidneys. The effect is due
in part to the volatile oils, limonene and diosphenol (a phenolic ketone),
As a result it can be helpful in gout and
rheumatism.
It has also been recommended for
gravel and stones in the kidneys and bladder and can be a good adjunct to
our "Stone Free
K"
Buchu soothes and stimulates mucous membranes. so the herb
naturally supports the
